States & Stages
A program to develop human capacities utilising the training ground we are made for; Nature
More than just a problem of the modern work environment, modern environments in general are dysregulating to human nervous systems. So much so that we take low-performance states as normal.
You may be finding that you and your colleagues are dealing with:
- Stress and overwhelm
- Information overload
- Inability to focus
- Lack of creativity and clarity
- Difficulty relating with others
- Challenges adapting to new circumstances
- Low energy and inspiration
- Difficulty regulating reactions
States & Stages is designed to help participants cope and thrive through modern challenges
We work with Nature to develop capacities such as:
Presence and mindfulness
Cognitive flexibility, pliability of awareness and perception
Self-awareness
Empathy
Listening and relating
Self-regulation, stress recovery and relaxation
Wellbeing and personal resilience
Capacity to hold energy and vitality
These are the building blocks for leadership, wisdom and wellbeing; sense-making and decision-making.
About the program
The States & Stages program is designed for organisations who are looking to help their people develop in ways that promote wellness, resilience, better relationships and clear thinking... and who perhaps want to try something a little different! It is designed to be accessible to all participants and adaptable to particular priorities of the organisation.
This program doesn't depend on your organisation having anything directly to do with Nature. What matters is the fundamental truth that human beings are designed for, and as, Nature.
The States & Stages program shows how Nature can be brought back into any of our work contexts in a simple and supportive way.
Why it works
States & Stages takes common practices and capacities that are proven to have benefits in the work context and combines them with the proven benefits of Nature exposure to create a supercharged and unique program that can be implemented without needed to organise an expensive and time-consuming retreat.
Nature experience and exposure has been shown to boost creativity, happiness, short term memory, problem-solving and pro-sociality. It relieves attention fatigue and stress and allows the senses to become more refined, enabling greater awareness of the innate intelligence of the body. It also improves the effectiveness of practices we don't always think of to apply in Nature.
Mindfulness, for example, has been consistently associated with improvements in cognitive performance, attentional capacities and negative emotional states. It increases compassion and prosocial behaviour and reduces stress, anxiety and depression. However it can have low rates of adherence from participants and can be taxing on attentional reserves which is not what we want for immediate performance. Nature has been shown to address both these issues with mindfulness training and deliver results efficiently.
Claire will skilfully guide participants to find the ease and joy of intentionally working with Nature to develop priority capacities of the group
How it works
This program is designed to be either in-person or using a hybrid online methodology, where participations attend one online session per module and a complete a regular sit spot practice in a location of their choosing. ‘Homeplay’ activities are provided, supported by a workbook and audio and video recordings. Module content and resources are organised and displayed in this platform in an easy-to-navigate format and accessible via an app for on-the-go use.
Your team will get a dedicated community space on this platform where they can ask questions and where challenges will be posted. In between modules casual small groups meetups are held to give time for personal check-ins and support.
There is then the option for a follow-on program with less frequent sessions over a longer period of time, designed to embed and integrate the capacities, knowledge and language associated with it into the team’s everyday.
